PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Leadership Porterville is a one year program which focuses primarily on the various topics affecting Porterville now and into the 21st century. Training includes analysis of complex and controversial local issues, introduction to leaders of business, civic and religious organizations, and participation in problem-solving and decision-making activities.

MISSION

Our purpose is to enable potential and emerging community leaders to positively impact Porterville as interested and informed residents. We hope to inspire active and effective involvement through the confidence, skills and knowledge gained by program participation.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Anyone who has considered engaging in a leadership role in any arena is likely to find the experience gained through this program to be extremely valuable to their future pursuits. Individuals with leadership potential who are seeking opportunities for personal growth and refinement of existing skills will appreciate the consistent and challenging curriculum offered by Leadership Porterville. Volunteers and professionals who are committed to community service and the future of Porterville.


Recruiting is conducted year-round and applications are accepted each fall.

Applications for the next year's class are due at the Chamber office by October 31st of this year.

Panel interviews of the final candidates are conducted by a confidential group of community members, LP officers and program graduates. Announcement of new program participants is made prior to the welcome reception in January.
